Food: traditional Beijing style breakfast/snack(?) dishes that are really authentic. Especially A1, A2, A3, B2. Portion size is just on the right side; and averages out to ~$30 per person, and probably will be less. Atmosphere: it’s a run-of-the-mill mom & pa store that serves traditional snack food, so nothing special yet they make really good food. Service: scan code to order and they bring it out to you. Charge no tips. Time: as fast as the kitchen churns them out. General comment: pretty authentic cuisine of Beijing city (or Peking, if you felt nostalgic), and they are proud of what they make here. Amazing value of food as well.
The most basic requirement for a restaurant is to have what is on the menu ready during the operation hours, however, when we arrived at 5:00pm on Saturday, 30% of the items on the menu were sold out. How is that even possible? It is really frustrating that you came all the way, wanted to try what is on the menu, but they were all sold out. So why bother to open the restaurant then, if you cannot even do the most basic thing. We had to order other stuff that we didn’t come here for, the taste was 4 out of 10. The restaurant is very small and crowded, the service is supposed to be self-service, so don’t expect they would fetch utensils for you. Don’t understand why they use one-time use chopsticks. Anyway, very disappointed and frustrated experience, don’t think will go back anytime soon.
A canteen I often go to! Northern Chinese flavor, traditional Beijing-style snacks, Mending meat pie, fried noodles, meat pie, porridge are all very good. No tips are accepted, but you need to pick up your own tableware, tea, and paper towels
I ordered zhajiangmian (noodles with soybean paste), an egg and zucchini pancake, and a mixed vegetable dish on New Year's Eve. The taste was decent, but the portion sizes were very disappointing. The mixed vegetable dish, in particular, came in a box barely larger than a fist, which was significantly smaller compared to previous orders. Considering the rising prices and shrinking portions, the value for money just isn’t there anymore. I hope the restaurant addresses this issue with portion sizes; otherwise, I’m unlikely to order again.
Place is small so it's pretty tight, especially when it's busy with people buying takeout as well. Food is great, loved the egg zucchini sizzling bun, the doornail beef meat pie, the multi layers meat pancakes, and the pork stew with flat bread. Pork stew has not just pork intestines and flat bread (which tasted a bit dense), it also has pork stomach, stewed fried tofu, and minced garlic which you stir into the stew. Delicious! Though like the other reviews said, there's no tip but the price is a tad expensive for the portion size. But still worth it, in my opinion.
Very nice little restaurant. They serve delicious pan fried beef or pork buns. The wrapper is not too thick, while the meat is super juicy and has plenty of soup inside. Food is served pretty quickly and everything else is self serve. At checkout, they have a sign that says no tips needed. Which is the complete opposite to the recent dreaded trend of mandatory tips. I definitely will visit again and have already recommended this place to friends.
Firstly. Food is cheap and no tip. But honestly food is not delicious and small portion. So the price is just OK? i ordered 3 things There is only one is good. (but not special)Maybe i should try something popular. just Very so so.
