I Ordered an assorted platter of Italian cookies for a function last Saturday. I was asked to pick the cookies up Friday afternoon as they would be closed Saturday due to a family function but was assured the cookies would be freshly made when I ordered them. We were very disappointed as we found not all the cookies on the tray to be fresh. My sister almost broke a tooth when biting into one of the cookies. These cookies were not cheap and we were expecting them to be fresh. When I called to inform them of this , the owner said the cookies were fresh and his wife prepared the tray herself. Then he said sorry and would ask her about it but then didn’t say anything else. I was a bit surprised as this was not the response I was expecting to hear. Unfortunately I don’t think I will be back here. We used to come here when in the area to buy from hot table but after this don’t think will be back and definitely will not be ordering cookies again!
Lago Bakery was highly recommended by a friend and I was extremely happy with the pastries I purchased. Forget Longo's or Nino D'aversa and all the others if your searching for exceptional Italian Cuisine, This is a family owned and operated business from what I witnessed and while perhaps a bit more expensive than some of the others the quality, fresh ingredients and large portions make it worthwhile. I would suggest better packaging because my order was squished into an undersized box, pricing and signage for the pastries would also be helpful as well as options for the delicacies would assist the mangiacake customers :-) Bottom line is I will be back and if you have never visited this bakery you need to.
Don’t bother coming here as they most likely will be closed. Came here on two separate occasions in early July and August and they are closed. Thank you for wasting two hours of my time.
Had Lago make my wedding cake. They did a fabulous job! Super accommodating using some decor pieces I already had and were very flexible with picking up. The cake turned out amazing, so many guests complimented how great it was. Very reasonably priced for how much we got.
Cakes and pastries were excellent prior to Covid. Since then the cakes and pastries are all across the board dry. We tried everything and it’s all dry. Quality has definitely declined.
I feel bad leaving reviews but this was just a 0/10 experience overall. Last week we called to see when they closed, inquired about the food they had, was told they had a full service hot table with pastas, meats, etc. Show up less than 20 minutes later to them having only one type of pasta which had been sitting for a while - you know the type when you can see the sauce all dry and crusty? Yeah… and if you wanted a bit of extra sauce on top tho, that cost extra (the regular sauce tho, the meat sauce was free which seemed bizarre). Ordered rice balls which didn’t come with any sauce which I thought was weird, any other time I’ve had arancini, it’s come with sauce on the side, I digress - had to pay an extra $3 for the sauce. Now this is the kicker, an Italian bakery that occasionally serves Caesar salad? I genuinely thought she was joking until the girl literally said “oh yeah no we don’t have that, very occasionally we do Caesar salad”. Wanting extra peppers, onions or mushrooms for the sandwich we got was disappointing as they didn’t have any left. The food was bland, the attendants were kids who didn’t really seem to care, I’m upset I made the trip to try a place that was in fact not a full functioning hot table with all sorts of options available. Had they told us over the phone that it is end of day and they have run out of most things I’d understand but being encouraged to come due to this great hot table they had was disappointing and misleading. Don’t waste your time here.
if i could give this place 0 starts-i would. i got the meatballs to take home. about 10 of them. which weren’t cheap- that’s not the problem though. the problem is that they didn’t taste like the regular meatballs you’d find in a italian deli. the taste was very off- the meatballs lacked so much of the actual meat and had too much bread crumbs. 80% bread crumbs and 20% meat. my whole family wouldn’t eat them. so basically i bought bread crumb balls not meat balls. the cook is most definitely not italian and probably does not follow the same recipe as they used to. but that’s also not the entire problem. my problem is when i went back to speak to the owner about the taste of the meatballs, the owner spoke to me like i am absolute garbage. i just asked him to listen to my concern since i am a pretty regular customer but in tern i got treated like i don’t know what i’m talking about. he said to me that i must be eating garbage so i wouldn’t know what good food tastes like. what kind of person talks to another person this way? he said this is nonsense and told me to leave. i come pretty often to this place as i live very close by. never again will i ever go there. and it’s not gonna make a difference for them if i go there or not but at least i now know what kind of people they are. people who are in the restaurant service industry and are unwilling to listen to customers concerns is ridiculous. he should get off his high horse and treat people with some respect
