Been visiting masterminds for about 8 years now. It's the place to go for my nephew and I. I find it a bit small and tight however overall great service and very organized. And they even have a public washroom that you can use that's always clean. Really easy parking.
Since i have a son, I go to Mastermind a lot. Usually I go to the Markham location and since I recently moved to Richmond Hill I try to go the one closer to me. The richmond hill location is okay but there is one employee is not. Not the most helpful, not friendly and sometimes i feel they look down on you if you buy something on promotion/sale. I have a membership and I asked her about the birthday gift she laughed like i'm an adult and the gift is for kids. Then I asked her to put my baby's birth date and she refused. I wish you guys can improve your employee attitude.
Not sure why, they just refused their own gift card. Said they are not the same company so the gift card not valid any more?! Maybe there are some company mergers and acquisitions, but anyway you should take care what is left!
Terrible customer service at this store. I bought 4 toys and spent a decent amount of money. I specifically mentioned they were all gifts. No offer was made to wrap them. When I got home my partner mentioned that they usually wrap all the gifts there but it’s pretty bad that the guy helping me didn’t even mention it.
Went in looking for gifts. Was super impressed with great customer service, helpful advice, relaxed interactions and great knowledge. Based on this experience, I would go back in a heartbeat if I needed to. Good job and thank you for the pleasant experience.
I came in ready to spend around $400 on gifts for my niece, but walked out with nothing due to the lack of customer service. The toy stroller I wanted was in a damaged box. I asked the associate (a mature woman with blonde hair and glasses) if there was another. She said yes—but that I’d need to wait 30 minutes until her coworkers returned from lunch so she could get a ladder. I was the only customer in the store. She wasn’t helping anyone, and even as her coworkers came out from break and stood chatting nearby, no one made any effort to help. One employee asked her if I needed anything and maybe I need help, the other replied, “She’ll wait it’s okay,” then continued her conversation. When I expressed my frustration, I was told, “It’s too bad, but our hours are cut and we deserve a break.” I completely understand employees need breaks—I’m a store owner myself—but this was about basic customer care. Breaks should be staggered and service should never feel like a burden. I’ve shopped at Mastermind for years, and this was the first time I’ve felt completely dismissed. My 7-year-old son was with me the whole time, being patient, and even he could tell we weren’t being treated with any care. A company that markets itself as family-focused should reflect that in its service. I sincerely hope this review leads to some accountability.
Small place compared to toys r us, however prices and selections are great! I specially like their counter special in which they offer some toys at extra discount!
