My partner and I decided to go with oakview for the beautiful view and amazing service provided by event coordinator Denver. However, unfortunately, Denver was no longer available to coordinate our event, and we were left with another event coordinator named May. I urge anyone who is considering this venue for their special occasion to avoid May at all costs. Her treatment towards myself, my partner, my family, and our guests was shocking. She was yelling at our vendors and talking to them with the utmost disrespect. She had my family and my father help with setting up the chaffing dishes for the open buffet, and he ultimately cut his hand on a sharp edge on one of the Steele dishes. What kind of venue coordinator allows the father of individuals special night to do acts of service? He is a guest, and a special one. It’s unimaginable. She also had our guests do cleaning work, simply because we threw a few rose petals on the floor in celebration of our engagement. To make guests clean? This type of treatment is unimaginable and unacceptable at all levels. She disrespected my sister and completely ruined the night for her, constantly burdening her with tasks and instructions, speaking to her disrespectfully, and telling her to get guests and clean the rose petals her self. She was beyond disrespectful I cannot stress this enough. I thought many times before leaving a review but if I can spare anyone the chance of ruining a special occasion by posting this review, I will be happy. To add to her disrespectful and horrible treatment on the day of our event she even was making inappropriate comments regarding the overall pricing of our package, saying we are getting this for a steal and that we should be paying more. May even strongly forced tips and used tips to negotiate basic services that we were requesting. We ended up tipping 15% cash and I cannot stress enough how May did nothing to warrant a tip of any sort, I am regretful that we tipped someone that did not remotely earn it by even meeting the minimum levels of respect and appropriate behaviour on our special event. On the contrary, I can’t speak highly enough about Denver, she was lovely, welcoming, fair, and respectful, we were happy when communicating with her and working with her. Go with Denver, avoid May, and if it is May, avoid Oakview.
The place and view is beautiful. We had a fund raising event. For the price we paid, the food was minimal. Servers were very slow. Some people didn’t get their food till almost the event was done. No one brings water to the table. I had my daughter’s wedding shower in 2019 and things weee much better
We can't thank May and her incredible team enough for making our reception day absolutely perfect! From the very first moment we reached out, the level of professionalism, warmth, and attention to detail was beyond anything we expected. May and her team were so thoughtful, helpful, and accommodating every step of the way. They made the entire process so much easier, guiding us through the details and offering suggestions that perfectly aligned with our vision. On the big day, everything went off without a hitch. It was clear that the team was dedicated to making our day special, and their efforts truly shone. Our guests couldn't stop raving about the venue and the flawless service. We were able to relax and enjoy the day knowing that everything was taken care of. It’s rare to find a team that not only meets but exceeds expectations like this. We are so grateful for all the hard work, love, and care that went into making our celebration unforgettable. A special moment I would like to point out is May had purple lights turn on during our entrance which was my daughter’s favourite colour that she remembered. It made the moment so much more special and that’s the kind of thoughtfulness she provides. Thank you, May, and your amazing team. You made our reception everything we dreamed of and more!
Oakview Terrace, but especially their venue manager May, was fantastic to work with. I'm so, so happy that this venue was available for my wedding day. We had a very late-winter, early-spring wedding in mid-late April 2025. May is really sweet, kind, and understanding. The day wouldn't have gone so well if it was anybody else. We thought the venue itself was beautiful, so we went with minimal decor. The chapel is gorgeous with full wood and natural light. I will say that the chapel was really cold on the wedding day and there is no heating provided. The only warmth you can get is from closing the windows, but that really lessens the natural light. However, if you're able to handle the cold or if you have a wedding that's not winter adjacent, it really is such a beautiful space and I highly recommend it. We paid extra to have our tea ceremony at the venue, but the convenience and having May help run the show (with an assistant - thank you for exchanging all the tea cups!) was worth the price. May asked if we had any special requests for the type of tea, but we wanted to leave it to the professional. We were told that the tea she made us was really sweet, just like the couple being married, and that it was a special recipe that has been passed down to her. We had a traditional 12 course Chinese banquet. May told us that they have a special team that is brought in for the Chinese style meals, and they really are top notch. My guests were gushing about the food but especially the steamed fish and the beef with fresh vegetables. May ensured us that everything, like all the crab, seafood, and vegetables, are bought in the morning to ensure freshness. All the food was delicious, and my husband really loved the dessert that is made in house. May was very attentive during the dinner service for the sweetheart table. The menu was flexible to tailor to our tastes, and additonally, May was super understanding about our budget until the end. However, we paid extra for a menu tasting (as we never actually eaten at the venue before and wanted to ease our minds), but it was so worth it because it was delicious and we got to keep the leftovers. A very big shout out to the bartenders; my guests thought you were hilarious. The service was fast and efficient. Those with allergies or special requests were accommodated with grace, even if they were last minute. Honestly, the food was so, so good. May was very flexible and helpful when it came to the seating plans. Brides should keep in mind that there is a bridal suite in the basement, but there is no natural lighting. There is a getting ready station with a mirror and lights, but there is only room for one person to be worked on. My bridesmaids and the mothers had to all take turns, as my makeup artists believed wasn't enough lighting in the bridal suite to have everyone be worked on simultaneously. We had 3 make up artists working on three clients (total 6 people) at one time in the space outside of the bridal suite and it was a little cramped. The sound system in the reception hall worked great for our purposes, as did the system in the chapel. The party lights were worth it, so we could dance the night away. We were offered some extras for the decor (like easels) but we had already bought one for ourselves, but do know that you should ask what they have! They even let us keep our cars in the parking lot overnight because we were able to get a ride from our wedding party. There were no additonal costs that popped up, nor any surprise charges, for anything. Everything was as agreed upon since the beginning. While this venue isn't full service (such as decor or florals), it's pretty darn close. I highly recommend anyone who wants an all-in-one venue to check out Oakview Terrace. We loved that we could have the ceremony and the reception all in one place. May is a pleasure to work with and she works really hard to make sure you have a sweet weddding day.
I recently had my bridal shower at Oakview Terrace and it was a dream come true. The space is lovely, the food was delicious and the service was perfect. May is an absolute pleasure to work with. My guests are still talking about it and it was almost 2 months ago. I can’t wait to host another event there in the future!

We celebrated our wedding here at Oakview Terrace in 2019. It is a beautiful spot and I highly recommend there services! We are so happy with our wedding and how everything played out. We have had many compliments on our wedding including the location itself calling it a “hidden gem”. Thank you Oakview Terrace staff for being a part of our wedding day and making it truly incredible! Leading up to our wedding we attended some of the events they hosted throughout the year. A great way to familiarize yourself with their menu, staff and location... 2 thumbs up!!
